Goals
The overall goal of this campaign was to update the look of Colorlab Cosmetics and transport the brand into a higher market niche. With the unique nature and high quality of the product, it is one that can easily transcend that of other natural beauty product lines. I set out not only to update the identity of Colorlab, but also branding and packaging.
The goal was to create a look that is elegant, minimalist, and still keep the elements of nature that make Colorlab unique company. Macro photographs of nature are used as accents to any materials, but abstracted or reduced in visibility so as to give texture or depth but without being overtly obvious. This adds a level of interest while keeping the designs clean. Gloss and matte textures are interwoven with the natural elements to add a level of depth to the design and helps keep it interesting.
For the logo, the focus was on nature, and the name color lab - to make an icon that incorporated mixing of colors, also a large concept to the companies product. There was a decided choice to not use natural colors in the logo. This would help convey a modern look, as natural colors tend to be muted or dull. The colors chosen were brighter tones, picked to extend the appeal of the brand into a younger market.
Thank you!
